Latest Testimony from Assumption Church, PJ, August 2010

“For ten weeks, there were massive crowds outside the Assumption Church Hall every Monday and Thursday night. They would meet for dinner, fellowship and then praise and worship before settling down for a talk. One might wonder, “What is taking place?”

It was none other than the ever-popular Alpha course conducted in tens of thousands of churches across the world.

“I’ve looked everywhere for the answers to my deepest questions. Alpha helped me discover the answers! The course showed me that God is real and that life has meaning. It helped re-new my faith and re-connect with Jesus,” said Joseph Tan.

Datuk Dr Fonseka added, “In the ten weeks at Alpha, I learned more about Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit than I did in my whole life.”

“Having looked at the course outline, what more could I gain since I felt the course was basic and I know the bible fairly well?” wondered Mario Peter who later exclaimed, “How utterly wrong I was! The talks and sharing opened up a whole new perspective for me. It’s unique in its own way and delves deep in oneself. I also found the Holy Spirit weekend such an unforgettable experience!”

Most would agree that Nicky Gumbel’s talk is what they look forward to every week. His talks are simple to understand yet powerful.

Alpha is for everyone. It is for seekers who would like to find out more about Christianity. A guest from our last Alpha session shared that he was seriously searching for God and has been reading all kinds of books on different religions. But it was the Alpha course which he found most enlightening! His experience in Alpha persuaded him to sign up for the next RCIA journey which started in early June.

Practically everyone who attended Alpha admitted to having a spiritual awakening experience. A total of 179 guests who attended the Holy Spirit weekend away in Port Dickson recently confessed that the course helped them to know Jesus and the Holy Spirit more intimately. What caught some by surprise was that they now felt inspired to read the Bible, share with others and spread the Good News!
